Mission Possible

Digital preservationists are on a mission to capture the world’s threatened masterworks in all their 3-D glory for future generations to see. The photo below: Sculptors took 14 years to carve the presidential heads on Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, finishing in 1941. In 2010 imaging specialists with high-speed laser scanners covered nearly every inch of the surface in 16 days. Photo by Richard Barneshttp://bit.ly/19metvW
