A Curious Figure From the Distant Past

This beautifully sculpted head of, what has been described as a Jama-Coaque dignitary, has fascinated me for the last few day since its discovery in an eBay auction. The sculpture itself is by the hand of a highly skilled craftsman, and rivals anything from ancient Egypt, Mexico or Europe in any time period. But what fascinates me most is the headgear (or is it a headpiece) that this figure is wearing. Are we looking at some form of ancient technology, worn to amplify sound in some manner, or is this an example of a perception device, used by a class of priests or intuitive’s as described by the psychic, Edgar Casey and other channeled writings? Whatever it is – it fits snugly on the figures head, almost like a skullcap.
