Elongated Heads/Skulls

Why are we so fascinated by unusual and elongated heads? Is it a genetic memory of when we walked the Earth as one of these unusual beings – or perhaps they were like any other culture of people that we live with today, and we are confronted by this absence of their presence when we see their skeletal remains? Whatever the reason – longheaded skulls are a fascination. I’ve had an interest in these people for as long as I can remember, and as a college student, questioned the head binding explanation as to simplified and inaccurate. Today the public’s fascination has merged with popular culture. In a series of 2012 promotions, singer BeyoncĂ© was transformed into an African Queen with a beautifully sculpted elongated head. The transformation was created by artist Iain Ball, who used the ancient sculptures of Pharaoh Akhenaten daughters. The final images are fascinating to behold. Can you image yourself with a head like this? -Cliff — Forgotten People of Earth’s Ancient Past (10 photos)
