Human Skin Book

Human skin book bears image of hanged priest. A 17th century book believed to be bound in the skin of a priest executed for treason appears to bear an image of his face on the cover. The account of the death of Gunpowder Plot conspirator Father Henry Garnet is described by experts as "rare and macabre". Henry Garnet was sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered, but before he could be cut down alive to do this, the crowd pulled on his legs, and as a result he died from hanging on 3 May 1606.
