Rare photo of the Great Pyramid of Giza

I'm delighted to see that Earth Ancients is enjoyed by 6,000 fans around the world, and to mark the occasion, I'm posting a rare photo for the day.

The picture was taken in the early 1940's, and shows the Great Pyramid of Giza - - the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis. At a specific time each day, the sun shines on the surface of the pyramid to reveal its eight sections (sides.) Oddly, this can only be seen from elevation high above the ground.
