Stone Chamber in Massachusetts.

Pictures of the Peru, Massachusetts stone chamber. A couple of years ago I was contacted by someone who had read one of my articles on stone chambers. He told me of a chamber he was familiar with in Peru, on land that was owned by a former friend. I went to visit and the new landowner was very accommodating. Stone chambers come in all shapes and sizes from small tunnel like structures you have crawl through to huge vaulted domes. Like the Calendar 2 Vermont chamber, the Peru chamber is built with large rectangular slabs. The Vermont chamber has 7 huge roof stones that are up to 14 feet long and weigh up to 3 tons. The Peru chamber has 10 up to 10 foot stones that comprise the roof and as you can see from the photos, it is quite an impressive and tightly fitted construction. — Peru, MA Chamber (4 photos)
